My husband and I made such good friends with this young couple who we met at one of the two Barcelona Hotels which we visited last month. We went over there for a really nice long weekend right at the end of January, in a bid to escape the winter gloom. We had the best time – it’s such a beautiful city, and there’s so much to do for those who enjoy cultural institutions such as art galleries and museums. We met Fred and Sarah on our first night there and they came along to lots of galleries with us – I hope we stay in touch!

It is great to recall the past and Fort Lauderdale has lots of stories to tell about the past. It has one of the oldest living structures located in Broward County, the Stranahan House. It was built in the year 1901 by Frank Stranahan, who was the first postmaster of Fort Lauderdale, together with his wife Ivy Cromartie Stranahan, who was the very first schoolteacher of the place. At present, it serves as the connection of the future and the past. Children visit this to learn about history and those who lived to see it during its flourishing years, reminisce about the good old days.

When my friend, Sue, stopped at my house, late last Tuesday morning, she said she thought I would be getting my husband, John’s, lunch ready. She knows that the usually comes home, from work, to have lunch. I told her that John was not coming home for lunch, because he was out deer hunting. I told her that he decided to take the day off of work to go hunting with a few of his friends. She said that her husband was also out hunting.
